The nightshades – the notorious shadowy herbs of the wayside the henbane, datura, belladonna and mandrake some of the European power plants which are important physically-active medicines in the herbalist’s Materia medica. Since ancient times, these incredible plants have been famed for applications in witchcraft and medicine. In this weekend retreat we will explore the whys and hows of why these plants have become so infamous and where their place is in modern herbal and magical practices.
