All My Wild Mothers: Motherhood, loss and an apothecary garden
This book came to me shortly after the death of my father and it’s the story of a journey through grief.
The manifestation of creating a beautiful garden from scratch with her young son. Each chapter begins with information on a wild plant. As a Herbalist, there are many plants that were never touched upon in my training. Wild flowers and herbs that have excited me and the exclamation of ‘well I never knew that’ was often expressed.
I am now on a journey to make use of these plants, nibbling on ivy-leaved toadflax as often as I can.
I shed many tears along the way, and came away enriched and strengthened by Victoria’s beautiful writing.
