Foundations of Herbal Medicine Course – The Crafty Herbalist Academy
The Crafty Herbalist Academy is an in-depth online learning community for people who want to develop a practical and thoughtful understanding of Western herbal medicine. It was founded and is taught by medical herbalist Kristine De Block BSc (Hons), MNIMH, who has been practising and teaching for more than 20 years.
At the heart of the Academy is the Foundations of Herbal Medicine course. This structured course brings together traditional herbal knowledge, modern research, plant identification, medicine making, folklore, seasonal practice and humoral energetics. Students explore the major body systems alongside individual herbs and remedies, gradually learning how to think like a herbalist and make more confident, appropriate choices.
A new course module becomes available each month, with video lessons, detailed illustrated handbooks, quizzes and practical assignments. Most students complete the Foundations course in around 12 to 18 months, although there is no fixed deadline and many choose to take longer. Every assignment is personally reviewed and marked by Kristine.
Academy membership also includes monthly live online classes and recordings, seasonal herbal projects and recipe booklets, foraging videos, remedy-making demonstrations, a searchable teaching library and a private student community. Further advanced learning is available once students have completed the Foundations course.
Students who complete the required modules and assignments receive a certificate in Foundations of Herbal Medicine. The course is CMA accredited and recognised as suitable access learning for those who may later wish to apply for professional herbal medicine training.
General enrolment opens at selected times throughout the year, but Herb Society members are welcome to join at any time. If enrolment is closed, please contact Kristine directly.
