Wild Things: Seasonal Wild Food and Medicine

March 1, 2023 - October 31, 2023

Wild Things is an eight month exploration of British wild food and medicinal plants growing in a variety of habitats through the seasons – the classes commence during March and end in October 2023. A start date in early April is possible but no later, due to the seasonal nature of the course.
Gain confidence in low impact foraging, beginner’s botany and ecology and develop a sensory approach to using wild plants both as food and medicine. Through a combination of theoretical sessions, practical remedy making tutorials and introductions to many different plant species you will learn how to use the plants that grow around you.
Classes are released online every fortnight, with 8 classroom based, 7 online herb walks and the option to purchase additional in-person herb walks in either Edinburgh or Glasgow.
We will post to a UK address 15 “Mystery Herbs” for you to try as part of our experiential Tea Tastings in every
class. You will also be able to access our Handbook of 40 medicinal plants which are covered during the course.
For questions and bookings please contact the course organiser directly.
Costs are based on a sliding scale depending on how you choose to pay (fully or in stages)
£350-£650 + £100 for 7 optional in-person herb walks in Edinburgh or Glasgow
“The online Wild Things course gave a thorough and fascinating introduction to folk medicine. I loved the emphasis on getting to know local plants throughout the seasons, learning how to recognise our own personal response to each plant, and always respecting the role each plant plays within the ecosystem. Each lesson gave an inspiring introduction to a topic and then suggestions of how to delve deeper to follow individual interests.”
