Enchanting Foraging
Wildcrafting For Herbal Remedies, Rituals, and a Magical Life
By Ebony Gheorghe
This book contains beautiful illustrations by Heather Powers. Part One starts with beginning your foraging journey and even has tips for someone who has no prior experience. Ebony explains about basic plant biology and suggests helpful websites to get you started.
Part Two is all about foraging by season, complete with seasonal tips, such as Autumn is the perfect time for harvesting roots and includes popular plants to gather like burdock and dandelion roots. She also includes recipes, and I especially am looking forward to making her Hawthorn Ketchup. Other recipes include balms, poultices and traditional fire cider.
The author looks at traditions and rituals, like the Mid-Autumn Festival, otherwise known as the moon festival. She also explains about crafts and activities and suggests herbs to use to make your own potpourri. The recipe for the plant infused chocolates are a must to make!
This is a lovely book for anyone looking to connect and have a meaningful relationship with the natural world. It is a must for any herbal bookshelf and one I shall refer back to often during each season so I can make the included recipes.
